Over six months in 2012, I worked on building a traditional elm longbow. With the help from a mentor, I did everything from cut down the tree to weave hemp bowstring and affix feathers onto arrows. The original inspiration for the project was actually from a dream I had while living in NYC, far away from the both the actual physical object of a bow and the possibility of fabricating one of my own. |

The exhibition images below are from the first time I showed the bow during One Night Only at UKS. For this exhibition, I wrote a few texts (free for visitors to take away) including one that doubled as a poster that described both the act of fabricating the bow and the psychological problems I encountered along the way re: contemporary art production, the difference between idea and object, etc. |



That green text is actually totally unrelated (on the surface, anyway) to the bow. Entitled Freedom Of Expression, it deals with the problems of openness and generosity in art production through the description of a night at a local karaoke bar.
